All About Us

We’re six students from the University of Virginia, brought together by a shared passion for the beautiful game—and a class that dives deep into it. As part of “Soccer & Politics,” a course exploring the global impact of soccer, we’ve taken a journey through stadiums, struggles, and stories from around the world. Our site is the product of that journey.

This class doesn’t just look at soccer as a sport—it unpacks it as a global phenomenon, shaped by politics, identity, culture, colonization, migration, and more. We’ve studied FIFA’s rise to power, analyzed the economics of the game, and explored how soccer reflects the hopes, dreams, and resistance of nations. From powerful institutions to grassroots movements, legendary matches to forgotten moments—this course taught us how soccer speaks to something much deeper in human society.

So what are we doing here?

Our project zooms in on iconic soccer teams—some you’ve definitely heard of, others you may not have. But all of them represent something unique. From the roaring reds of Liverpool to the proud legacy of Al Ahly, the Brazilian brilliance of Santos FC to the passion of Boca Juniors, the resilience of Dinamo Zagreb to the global dynasty of Real Madrid CF—we explore how each club shaped, and was shaped by, its community, country, and time.

This site is more than stats and trophies. It’s about stories—how a game became a global stage for identity, resistance, pride, and power. And we’re excited to share it with you.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just soccer-curious, welcome. Let’s explore the world through the lens of football.
