Al Ahly SC: More Than a Club, A Legacy

ree

On any given match day in Cairo, the city pulses with energy, and more often than not - that energy is red. Al Ahly SC, Egypt’s most decorated football club, is far more than just a team; it’s a symbol of national pride, resilience, and passion.

Founded in 1907 during British colonial rule, Al Ahly was born from a dream - a club for Egyptians, by Egyptians. From its early days as a meeting place for young activists to its rise as Africa’s most successful team with 44 league titles and 12 CAF Champions League trophies, Al Ahly’s story is deeply intertwined with Egypt’s own.

The team has faced it all - political upheaval, tragedy (like the 2012 Port Said Stadium riot), and fierce rivalry with Zamalek. But through it all, Al Ahly stayed strong, fueled by its loyal fan base, especially the iconic Ultras Ahlawy, who turned cheering into an art form.

Today, under coach Marcel Koller, Al Ahly continues to thrive with leaders like Mohamed El Shenawy holding it down in goal and rising stars like Emam Ashour lighting up the midfield. Whether dominating locally or making history at the FIFA Club World Cup, this team keeps proving why they’re called “The Club of the Century.”

Al Ahly isn’t just a football team - it’s a movement, a heartbeat, and a home for millions.
